Ombre Inking

Hello friends and fans! Today I have a cool background technique.  You know that cool hair technique that may or may not still be in style depending on where you live?  The one that goes light to dark or dark to light?  Well, I will show you in my below step out tutorial how to create an ombre background and how it is finished off with a stand out bow made with Really Reasonable Ribbons Satin Swiss Dots Ribbon in Hot Pink.

1. Gather your supplies.  Today I am using the clouds  and sentiment from Fairy In Flight (clear), Versa Mark Ink, embossing powder and Memento inks in 3 shades of the same color.  

2. Stamp the clouds on a 3.75" x 5" piece of paper.

3. Sprinkle on the embossing powder and emboss with a heating tool.

4.  Start with your darkest shade of ink and dab color onto your embossed image in a line down your paper.  Move on to the next lightest color of ink and do the same but overlap with the dark ink.  Finally use your lightest ink and follow the same technique.

5.  Finally take a baby wipe and remove the ink form the embossed image.

Now your background is ready to embellish with the Satin Swiss Dots in Hot Pink from Really Reasonable Ribbon and make into a card.  My card-base is 4.25"x 5.50".

Oh Hello Video Tutorial

Good morning! So glad you could join me today here at Jax Bean Stalks.  Is it Friday yet?  I am so over this week.  I finally got some sleep last night.  On Tuesday I thought it was a good idea to drink caffeine in the middle of the day.  Oh what a mistake.  I was up till after 1am.  I can only handle my 1 cup of tea in the morning.  After that, any other caffeine is just a recipe for staying up way to late.  Does caffeine affect you in weird ways?

Today I have a video tutorial featuring Butterfly Friend Fairy from Some Odd Girl.  I have also used adhesives from Xyron. In this video I will show you have to assemble the Cut File: Circle Card Banner also from Some Odd Girl.  All the products I have used in my video are listed with links in the description of the YouTube video.

I am so excited for Battle Of The Books!!!  My little Bean read all 23 books and is the only one in his class to finish.  So very proud of him!  What a smarty pants!  Going to have to do something special come Thursday for him and his team of 4!  Hope he can pull them along.  One has only read 6, one has read 17 and the last only 10.  EEEKKKK!  He has a lot of pressure on him to remember!  I practiced with them last Monday before he got sick again.  They all did good.  So silly at this age!

Happy Tuesday!  Hope everyone is having a LOVELY week so far.  We are here at the Cochran house.  My little Bean and I are having fun getting his Valentines ready for Friday.  So exciting that the school is actually having the kids party on the day of the holiday.  Most of the time they do the weirdest thing...they have the party on a different day.  Really? I have to ask...WHY???

I know this holiday was blown out of proportion to sell cards.  But I cannot help but make it special for my little Bean.  He gets so excited.  I am going to take lunch and eat with him on Friday and also surprise him with a balloon bouquet.  Then off the the movies after school.  How do all of you celebrate Valentine's Day?  Are you like me and do it for the kiddos or do you get a sitter and spend it with someone special?  Let me know in a comment below?
